A BLACK TIE GALA
The New Age Fundraiser made it's return this year on the 27th of May 2023, with its Black Tie Gala theme.
The evening consisted of a three hour showcase with a live DJ, food, local pop-up stalls like a henna stand, crochet pieces, live art and more!
The rehearsals took place on the Sunday the week before the actual fundraiser, at the venue Slung Low Warehouse. This rehearsals are a chance for the team and students who are learning the desks, and set up to rehearse their creative roles, as well as a chance for the acts, and pop-up stalls to browse the venue, and spend a good time with their set in the space.
The rehearsals for the Black Tie Gala were captured by Snaps by Lee, a local up-coming photographer based in Leeds. They joined the project to capture both the rehearsals and showcase.
The actual showcase itself consists of different creative acts, from stand-up comedy, poetry, live theatre, musicians, dancers and more.
These are all local creatives within Leeds who have either reached out or NAF has reached out to, in order to give them a space and stage to practise their art.
The New Age also features local businesses on site. They are invited to reach out and come and set up stalls at the fundraiser to promote and make profits for their businesses, and to also support the local community.
This is to help give back to local business owners, freelancers and to the creative community projects.
The NAF3: A Black Tie Gala team consisted of students, and free-lance creatives.
